The Best Locations In Nottingham For An Engagement Shoot

It can be a difficult choice to know where to go, but these shots are so perfect to send on your invitations or for an announcement on Instagram.

So let’s jump straight in! Below are my top three Nottingham engagement shoot locations, each offering its own unique backdrop and seasonal charm.

Colwick Park

If you’re after natural, relaxed engagement photos with a lakeside feel, Colwick Park is a brilliant choice. There are some quiet spots around the lake that work really well for photos, whether it’s a bright summer day or a crisp winter morning.

In the summer, it’s lush and green and in winter, you can get lovely atmospheric shots, just bear in mind that it can get muddy, so think about your footwear.

It’s a big park, but I know a few sneaky areas that feel a bit more private, which helps if you’re feeling a bit nervous in front of the camera.

Wollaton Park

Wollaton Park is one of the most popular photo locations in Nottingham, and for good reason. It’s got open green space, woodland paths, and plenty of character.

However, if you want to take photos that clearly show the hall itself (or anywhere that identifies it as Wollaton Hall), there’s a photography fee of £100. If you’re happy to pay that, we can shoot right by the hall and even inside if it’s allowed at the time.

If not, no worries, there are plenty of great spots around the grounds that work really well for an engagement shoot without giving the exact location away.

Highfield/ University Park

This is probably my favourite Nottingham location for engagement photos. It’s got so much variety in one place- you can walk five minutes and feel like you’re in a completely different setting.

There’s the lake if you want calm, reflective shots, some great wooded areas for something a bit more natural, and bits of university architecture that can add a slightly more classic or formal feel. There’s also plenty of open space if you just want something simple and relaxed.

Whether you’re going for something casual or a bit more dressed up, this park works really well and gives you loads of options to choose from.

A Few Extra Tips

Timing matters: Early mornings or evenings give the nicest light and help avoid busy backgrounds.

Dress for the weather: Especially in winter, comfy shoes and warm layers are a must.

Think about how you’ll use the photos: If they’re going on your invites or wedding website, we can shoot with that in mind, maybe you have your wedding colours picked out which can influence where and when it is done.

Don’t stress: Most couples I work with have never had professional photos taken together, it’s my job to make it feel easy and natural, and I promise we’ll get some great shots.
